Spider-Man Swings back Into Theatres With Spider-Man Far From Home

Good day to you my friends!.. It seems that we have now entered the month of July and as I have always said that with a new month comes some fresh new releases for us to all check out! Next to the kick off of summer movie season, the 4th of July releases are usually some really big blockbuster. Now those movies are always released a few days early to make as much money as possible for that release time. In years past some pretty big movies have come out and almost always make a pretty good haul at the box office. From what I read this year at the summer box office is making more than it did last year. Not that there were't good movies last summer, there were some pretty great ones last year and there have been some great movies this summer as well. But every summer these past few years you can always count on there being lots of sequels to action blockbusters and to some comedies. But, predominantly the sequel has always been a staple of the action/sci-fi genre. One of the biggest draws to the box office the past 19 years have been superheroes, X-Men, which was produced by 20th Century Fox, kicked it off giving new life to the genre after it was thought to be dead, breathing new life which would spawn 10 movies for that franchise. From there studios were buying up rights to comic books. Columbia Pictures bought the exclusive rights to quite possibly one of the most popular superheroes and gave us the first incarnation of the web slinger in 2002 which was huge hit and spawned two sequels and was rebooted with The Amazing Spiderman in 2012 which gave us a sequel of its own in 2014. While this was going on Disney partnered with Marvel Studios to bring life to many of its comic book heroes in 2008 with Ironman which was hugely successful. Throughout the ten plus years Marvel an Disney had numerous hits with their heroes and made a deal with Columbia/Sony Pictures for the rights to Spider-Man to bring him into the MCU as they neared the end of their Infinity Stone story arc. Which brought us to their version in 2017 and was a huge hit. Spider-Man would return in the next two Avengers movies and after Endgame polished off the the 3rd phase for Marvel and Disney, we are now lead to here with the kick off of the 4th phase. And who better to kick it off then Spider-Man in his latest adventure Spider-Man:Far From Home which stars Tom Holland (Spider-Man Homecoming) as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill, Zendaya ( The Greatest Showman) as MJ, Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny) as Aunt May, Jon Favreau (Ironman) as Happy Hogan and Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners) as Quintin Beck/Mysterio. So, time to see if Spidey can spin us a web of a great movie or not.

It has been a little while since the events of Endgame saw all that Thanos erased brought back and the death of Tony Stark/Ironman. This event was known as the blip. Peter Parker (Holland) has been doing his best to fill the void left by Ironman, but worries that he may not be worthy or not even good enough. Also on his mind is his feelings for MJ (Zendaya) and that on their upcoming school trip to Europe, that he is going to tell her how he feels. While he worries about the later, he is excited about the trip and for a chance to take a break from being Spider-Man for a little while and just be Peter Parker. Those plans are ruined when Nick Fury(Jackson) starts calling him, to which Peter ignores. Just when Peter thinks that he has avoided Nick Fury calling him and being Spider-Man so that he can focus on telling MJ his feelings he is met with two obstacles! The first being a rival for MJ's affections and then as his class is in Venice a giant Elemental monster made of water causes great destruction which in turn has Peter use his powers to stop it with little luck. But, a new and mysterious hero called Mysterio emerges to defeat the monster. Then shortly after that Nick Fury shows up in Venice and finally gets to talk to Spider-Man after being ghosted for so long by the webslinger. Fury gives Peter a pair of glasses left to him by Tony Stark and introduces him to Quintin Beck aka Mysterio (Gyllenhaal) who apparently was from a different Earth and brought here during the snap along with the monster he just saw and others  called Elementals. Beck has defeated 3 of them and that only leaves 1 left, the most dangerous of all fire and it as been tracked to Prague. Fury wants Peter to help fight the last monster, but Peter refuses wanting to enjoy his class trip and continue on his plan to tell MJ how he feels. Peter also doesn't want anyone of his classmates to figure out his identity and thy would if he is seen in his Spidey costume. Fury then hijacks Peter's class trip unknown to the others who think they got a free upgrade by the tour company. Fury also gets Peter a new suit made for him so that he can help and not be outed as Spider-Man by his classmates. On the way to Prague Peter discovers the glasses that Tony Stark left him are an advanced  computer program called EDITH that controls a drone defines system along with a lot of other functions. Peter with no choice helps Mysterio defeat the last Elemental and still manages to displease Fury. After their victory Peter and Beck go for a drink to celebrate and Peter decides that the EDITH glasses should go to Beck and gives them to him along with control of the system it incorporates. Unknown to Peter, Beck is not from another Earth or a superhero at all but a fraud, a former Stark employee with a grudge against his former employer whose entire plan was to get the EDITH glasses from Peter. Along with other former Stark employees they project the illusion through technology of Mysterio's heroic feats along with the monsters but still cause real damage. As Peter thinks that he has finally gotten back to his class trip and plans with MJ he finds that the trip has been cancelled and as he tells MJ how he feels about her and that he is Spider-Man which she always suspected. Peter also finds out that Beck is a fraud and that he was only after the glasses. So, Peter goes to stop him and get the glasses back with no luck, being defeated by Mysterio's illusions. Mysterio desperate to keep his secret goes after Peter's friends who know the truth about Beck. it is up to Peter to bury his doubts about whether he is good enough to fill Ironman's shoes, to save his friends and stop Mysterio.

Now I don't know about you but that movie sounds pretty good, and to tell youth truth it was! I just hope I did it justice with mu synopsis! This second big summer release for Marvel Studio's and Disney hit a home run as it was the perfect followup to Avenger's:Endgame and a great second go round for Tom Holland and company in the second Spider-Man movie. This movie had it all a great script/story that was well written with a nice mix of drama, humour and action. That can also be said for the movie itself which had all of that and some great CGI effects. There is great chemistry with the entire cast, particularly between Holland and Gyllenhaal. The movie through you for a loop at the beginning thinking that Mysterio was from another Earth but those who know the character know he wasn't, that his powers where nothing more than illusions which instead of making him a former actor  he was a former disgruntled Stark employee. All in all a really great movie to kick off the month of July. That is why I am giving Spider-Man Far From Home an 8.3 on the Justin Scale Of Movies and putting it on my Pick-It List of movies to see at the theatres right now! That is all I have to say about that, and time to call it a wrap on this latest movie review!.. Until next time remember to save me a good seat and to keep that popcorn freshly popped, because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
