I'll Be Gone For A While! But, Don't You Forget About Me!

Good day, my friends hope that you have all been doing well! Most recently I have decided to take a break from my duties as your go-to guy for movie reviews. The question you must be asking is why Justin? Why are you taking yet another break? Are there no good movies out there? Have you not been feeling well? Are you quitting on us all? Or are you just feeling burnt out? The answer to all your questions will be revealed once and for all in this article that I am writing here. It is time to stop living in my silence walking around the world like an emotionless zombie.

The answers are simple, but yet not quite so cut and dry! The reason, if I were to put it into simple terms is this! I have not been myself lately, not into my writing at all, in fact, it took everything in me to finish my last story on my other blog page. I started writing some of my follow-up chapter only to stop dead in my tracks as I am not quite feeling inspired, and to tell you the truth a little burnt out! Now, that is the simple, yet cut and dry explanation on my reasons for not reviewing a movie for you for a while as to why I am taking another break! It doesn't mean that I am taking a break from watching movies though! To tell you the truth, I have been watching an awful lot of movies at home and the movie theatre. Just a break till I am ready to give you a review again!

Yes, there are many good movies out there that I have seen since my last review which was I believe back on October 9th, which was for the movie Joker. To tide, you over here is what I saw and thought quickly like the long-awaited Zombieland Double Tap which was great, a worthy follow-up to the original! The sequel may have taken quite a few years to be made, but was as good as the first with just the kind of humor we expected and more and it gets a 7.4 and is pick to see! The next was Terminator: Dark Fate, the direct sequel to T2: Judgement Day after years of sub-par sequels. Dark Fate brought back Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and of course Arnold, it just wouldn't be a terminator movie without him. It wraps up the John Connor storyline and starts a new one with Skynet being destroyed and Judgement day being stopped. Yet, the fate of humanity remains the same with a new AI, a military one, a new savior to humanity and a new type of terminator. The movie had a strong start, lagged in the middle, a wrapped up nicely with a chance for a sequel. It had a decent story that could have used a little more work on details and dialogue. The movie was still entertaining with tons of action mixed with humor. It does have potential and I thought was good enough to get a 6.9 and be included as a pick. The next was Last Christmas a sweet little movie based on the music of George Michael and starring Emilia Clarke who happens to be my celebrity crush, haha! She is a young woman who dreams of being a singer and works in a year-round Christmas store. But, after a heart transplant, she is not the same person she was a year ago, alienating herself from her family, losing friends with her selfish behavior until she meets a mysterious stranger played by Henry Golding. This friendship changes her heart and person for the better, but he disappears from time to time and she knows not why? It's kind of like It's A Wonderful Life mixed with A Christmas Carol with a whole bunch of George Michael songs thrown in! It had a good story and a nice heartwarming feel by the time you get to the end of it leaving a smile on your face! It gets a 7.1 and is another pick of mine. Then comes the biographical sports movie Ford v Ferrari starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale. The story of Ford motor companies battle with Ferrari to win the 24hrs of Le Mans It had a fantastic story filled with great characters, great performances, a nice mix of action and humor and great on-screen chemistry with all the actors particularly Matt Damon and Christian Bale who both put in super performances! This movie gets an 8.3 and is another pick of mine. The next is the film adaption to Steven King's sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep. A great movie starring Ewan McGregor as an adult Danny Torrance who has dealt with the aftermath of the events at the Overlook Hotel by becoming an alcoholic like his father. Eventually, he settles in a small New Hampshire town, joins an AA group and works in a nursing home where he uses his gifts to help the dying find comfort in their final hours, becoming "Doctor Sleep". A young girl named Abra, with the most powerful shine ever seen stays in contact with him and eventually seeks out his help to stop a semi-immortal group of people called the True Knot who live off the steam of those with the shining that they kill. Danny uses his powers and with the help of the young girl Abra help stop the True Knot. This was a great story filled with lots of suspense, twists, turns, and nostalgia. It had some great performances and plenty of scares along the way. It gets a 7.8 on my scale and goes on the pick-it list. The next was The Irishman, Martin Scorcese's 3 and 29min gangster epic which focuses on mob hitman Frank Sheeran's career and family life. Along with his relationship with Teamster president Jimmy Hoffa and involvement in the murder of Hoffa. This movie boasts a who's who of Scorcese actors that include DeNiro, Pesci, Keitel, and Pacino. A great movie that focuses more on story then bloody violence, while yet still having some. At 3hrs and 29min it did seem a bit long at times but my mind was elsewhere and still a great movie with great performances and story! This movie gets an 8.2 and is a pick and now on Netflix after a limited release in theatres. The next is the movie A Beautiful day In The Neighbourhood starring Tom Hanks. This movie is the story is based on the true story of the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and Tom Junod. A heartwarming story, great script and a fantastic performance put in by Hanks who looked and felt like Fred Rogers. This movie gets a 7.9 and is another pick. Finally, the next movie I have seen is Knives Out a comedic murder mystery with a big name cast about a private detective that investigates the supposed suicide of a wealthy murder mystery author and his combative and eccentric family. It has a great story, plenty of laughs and twists and turns. Not your typical type of mystery done in the style of Hitchcock. It gets a 7.7 and is a pick as well. There you go, the answer to your next question! There have been plenty of good movies to see!
