Toy Story 4 Shows Why You Still have a Friend In Me!

Good day my friend, Hope you are all doing well and are ready for July as June is quickly winding up this coming weekend! You always know that as soon as June 21st hits and the official first day of summer comes that we are getting into the first full month of summer where the kids are done school, the weather is nice and warm, we spend more time outside enjoying the beautiful weather, we go on a little summer vacation.Whether that vacation be at the lake or visiting another city fare away from the confines of where you live! As a kid I have had many great summer memories and that just grew as I got older with my summer adventures. From trips to the lake with friends, the festivals and events that go on in the city during the summer, road trips to visit family in other cities one province over or flying 3000 miles to see a friend and a city that you always wanted to! Some of my greatest and most cherished memories have been in the summer. When I was doing these things I always, always took the time to do the one thing that I always like to do and that is go to the movies. And in the summer we get out fair share of sequels, superheroes, action, laughs and excitement from the movies vying to make the big summer dollars! Now this year there have been many sequels like in years past, but this year there seemed to have been more! They have ranged from really great, to okay and to why did they make this at all! It's when you take your time, you can make a movie. That has been the case in a few franchises that have proven over and over that taking the time to write a good script can truly make a great movie that everyone will enjoy! One such movie franchise that has proven this is Toy Story, that when it first came out 24 years ago it was not just a marvel of technology with it's ground breaking computer animation and fantastic story. It was such a huge success and after that many big name stars where doing voice work for animated features. It spawned two successful sequels and this year it returns for a 4th time bringing along some old and new friends. The movie stars Tom Hanks(Forrest Gump) as Woody, Tim Allen(Last Man Standing) as Buzz Lightyear, Annie Potts(Ghostbusters) as Bo Peep, Tony Hale(Veep) as Forky, Keegan-Michael Key (The Predator) as Ducky,Christina Hendricks(Mad Men) as Gabby Gabby, Jordan Peele(Keanu) as Bunny and Keanu Reeves(John Wick) as Duke Caboom. These actors along with all your other favourites who have added their voices to characters also return as well! Let us take a look at this latest movie to the hugely successful franchise to see if can keep with the trend of successful movies and keep this franchise's perfect record!

Woody(Hanks) reminisces about the day that his good friend and love of his life Bo Peep(Potts) was given away and left Andy's house. Many years have past and Andy has moved on to college leaving Woody and his friends with a new kid who loves to play with them named Bonnie. Used to being in charge and constantly played with, Woody has become just another toy and lately has been left in the closet unplayed with by Bonnie. That does not change the way he feels about his kid, in typical Woody fashion he tries his best to look after Bonnie even if she forgets about him. One such thing is going to the Kindergarten interview day to which he was told to stay away from because Bonnie would get in trouble if he was found. While there at the orientation day Bonnie creates a new friend and toy out of a plastic spork and some other crafting supplies that she calls Forky(Hale) and Forky quickly becomes Bonnie's favourite toy. But Forky doesn't realize that he is a toy and special to Bonnie, thinking that he is trash as that is where Woody found the plastic spork that Bonnie made him out of. Woody takes it upon himself to try and educate Forky on his importance to Bonnie and trying to keep Forky from leaving. While on a family road trip this task takes a lot of time leaving Woody a little tired but determined to keep Bonnie happy. His good friend Buzz(Allen) even volunteers to let him help, Woody feels that it is up to him and him alone to take on this task. Then as he loses focus for a second, Forky jumps out the window of the family RV while Bonnie is asleep to which Woody follows telling his friends that he will meet them at the campground nearby after he finds Forky, to wait for him. Woody quickly finds Forky and gets through to him on how important he  is to Bonnie and why he shouldn't run away. With a new sense of purpose Forky now hurries with Woody to get to the campground nearby. As they get close Woody notices in an old lamp that his good friend Bo Peep used to be on in an antique shop. Instead of continuing on to Bonnie, Woody and Forky enter the antique shop so that Woody can see if Bo Peep is actually in there. He doesn't find her but does find some old toys, one being a doll named Gabby Gabby(Hendricks) that wants Woody's voice box to replace the damaged one she has. Woody and Forky try to escape with Forky being taken hostage by Gabby Gabby knowing that Woody will return for his friend. Buzz and the other toys are worried that Woody has not returned yet and Buzz sets out to find his friend. Along the way Buzz finds two toys at a local carnival named Ducky(Key) and Bunny(Peele) who aid in his search with the promise that he will help them find a kid to take them home. Woody who has managed to escape with his voice box intact but lost Forky does find his old fiend Bo Peep in the park  who has revealed to him that she is a lost toy, but she enjoys stand all the freedom. She agrees to help him get Forky back and are joined by Buzz and Ducky and Bunny who have found them. With the help of another new friend in the antique shop, a stuntman action figure called Duke Caboom(Reeves) they attempt to rescue Forky which fails. Bo refuses to try again questioning Woody's blind loyalty and eventually be forgotten. But Woody makes a final attempt and sacrifice to save Forky, and with the help of Bo who has changed her mind and his old and new friends Woody tries to get back to Bonnie before he himself becomes a lost toy, but questions whether it really isn't so bad to move on and try something new.

Now I know I told you a lot and there might be some spoilers there, but I hope I gave you the gist of exactly what this movie is all about to help make up your mind and get your imagination gong to possibly want to see this movie. Let's get down to business here as they say! This was a truly fantastic movie, it still had the same charm, heart, warmth, fun and laughter as the previous three movies. It has a great story with some fantastic performances with the many talented actors and actresses here. As always in this franchise they seem to be able to keep it fresh and interesting, plus they also add some new characters as always to help with that. One such character is the Canadian Stuntman action figure voiced by Keanu Reeves called Duke Caboom who was a scene stealer. One would think after all these years that this movie would get old as some sequels often do, but it still manages to keep it's staying power. This is why I am giving Toy Story 4 a 8.5 on The Justin Scale of Movies and placing it on my Pick-It List of movies to see in the theatre right now! This and the previous 4 movies are something that is just timeless and makes you feel like a kid all over again. That is a wrap here on my end for this latest movie review my friends! Until next time remember to keep the popcorn freshly popped and to save me a good seat because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
