Another Week, Another Sequel As We Go Oversea's With Men In Black:International

Good day my friends and as per usual I hope that you are having a great day where ever you are! Yes I know that I always say that whenever I start one of my movie reviews. Some of you may be thinking, hey Justin why don't you try and come up with something new to start off your movie review! Well, I could and I have tried, but sometimes you just have to go with what works for you, that has been reliable and dependable!...Kind of like a good pair of shoes! Haha! The same can be said for the entertainment industry, they always seem to go with the same formulas that make them big money on their investment. And if you haven't noticed, you must be living under a rock if you didn't notice the fact that so far this summer the trend of sequels to continuing franchises or remakes are what's on the menu at the movie theatres. Now I am not saying that it is a bad thing!.. Some sequels and remakes have been better then their predecessor, even taking in more money and wowing critics. While others have been let downs and just left you asking the question...Why did they make this piece of crap! Now in this weeks latest movie review I am taking a look at the latest movie from the thought dead Men In Black movies that seemed all done when the trilogy ended in the summer of 2012. But in true Hollywood fashion they thought that they would reboot it and continue the saga in hopes of starting a franchise with new characters. This latest incarnation is called Men In Black: International and it stars Chris Hemsworth(Avengers:Endgame) as Agent H, Tessa Thompson(Creed) as Agent M, Kumail Nanjiani(The Big Sick) as Pawny, Rebecca Ferguson(Mission:Impossible-Fallout) as Riza, Rafe Spall(The Big Short) as Agent C, Emma Thompson(Love Actually) as Agent O and Liam Neeson(Taken) as Agent High T. Now let us take a look and see if this can start a successful franchise or if we will want the neurolyzer to take our memories away about this movie.

When she was a child Molly(Tessa Thompson) witnessed the mysterious Men In Black erase her parents memories after coming in contact with a small but eventually dangerous alien life form. As she did not have her memories erased, it became a lifetime obsession with her to find this secret agency and join it's ranks. From interviews with well known government agencies such as the FBI and the CIA  although brilliant, she had been labelled delusional and works at a  I.T help line still trying to find the Men In Black. Then one day after tracking a potential alien landing by breaking into  a government tracking system her dreams come true as she finds the mysterious agents and the proof that they and alien life on earth exists. Molly follows them to their headquarters, but is found out to be an intruder she is questioned by the head of MIB Agent O(Emma Thompson) who recruits Molly, making her Agent M but only on a probationary term for the time being. O sends her to London as there is a problem there and figures she can help out. There she meets the head of the London branch of MIB, High T(Neeson) who 3 years ago along with the famous Agent H(Hemsworth) saved the Earth from a dangerous alien race known as The Hive attempting to enter Earth through a space portal on the Eiffel Tower in Paris. But these days H is not the Agent he once was even drawing the eire of some of his fellow agents especially Agent C(Spall) who would like High T to let H go and neurolyze him. But High T has hopes for his former partner and is determined to keep giving H chances to become the agent he used to be and knows he can be again! Agent H is given a relatively simple assignment to take a visiting member of a royal alien family that he knows and was specifically asked for. Agent M wanting to get more field experience convinces H to let her tag along on his assignment. Unknown to the two agents a pair of twin aliens that bend and shape material at will are after H's alien friend and are in London to kill the visiting dignitary. The alien twins succeed in accomplishing their mission, but not before H's friend hands Agent M a mysterious crystal. From this failed mission they discover two things that the twins are working with The Hive and that they seem to have a mole inside of MIB. M is sent to help Agent C do more research on the attackers and bans H from getting involved in the case. So, H takes it upon himself to investigate this case against High T's wishes and he takes M along to help him. His trail leads him to Marakesh, where they find a tiny chess board like alien race that had been exterminated except one of the pawns, who they would call Pawny(Nanjiani), who pledges his device to M. With MIB on their trail they discover that the mysterious small crystal is actually a super powerful weapon that could be used to destroy an entire planet if necessary which is stolen and taken to H's old flame an intergalactic arms dealer Riza(Ferguson). H and M break into Riza's island compound and retrieve the weapon and become heroes. But the one thing that both of them still can't shake is who was the mole and when the weapon they worked so hard to retrieve is stolen from the MIB evidence lock-up, their trail leads to the revelation of who the mole was and another showdown with The Hive.

Now I gave you most of the movie here but left certain details here to wet your appetite just incase you might want to see it whether I recommend it or not! First of all I have to say that this was not the that bad of a movie that it has been made out to be! It had a great story, with some funny moments, great new characters and all the fun and action that made us like the original. The only downsides was that it did try too hard to recreate a team like Jones and Smith with Hemsworth and Thompson who did work well together in Thor:Ragnarok. They did have great chemistry and seemed to carry the movie well. Their characters had a decent backstory and hems worth's natural charisma and sense of humour helped punch up the jokes.  So there were the plusses to that negative. The other negative is that the story did seem to be a bit rushed here and there, but you really can't notice it too much! All in all a better movie then it has been given credit for! And that is why I am giving it a 6.7 on The Justin Scale of Movies which gives it a spot on the Pick-It List of movies to see in the theatres! That as they say is a wrap my friends! Until next time, remember to save me a good seat and to keep that popcorn freshly popped because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
