All Hail, Godzilla King Of The Monsters!

Well hello there my friends and loyal readers! Welcome back for another movie review that I have for you all! And, also welcome to a new month of movies! Yes, we have now entered the month of June and from what I can see on the horizon for upcoming summer movies it looks pretty interesting for us all! But not that I am not saying that May was a bad month for movies, in fact it was good! There was a bit of a gap from when Avengers:Endgame blew up the box office to start off the summer movie season as not many studios wanted to put their chance at coming up short in their projected numbers for box office gross. They all waited with a few throwing out some movies and then around the middle of May when they all started putting out some more big movies. And seeing as technically the last Friday of May released a few big big movies, I am giving two of the ones that finished off the month. The first was Rocketman, which I reviewed for you on Saturday and the other is Godzilla: King Of The Monsters which stars Vera Farmiga( The Conjuring) as Dr.Emma Russell, Kyle Chandler(Argo) as Mark Russell, Millie Bobby Brown(Stranger Things) as Madison Russell and Ken Watanabe(Inception) as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa. Now seeing as how the box office has been a bit erratic as of late with no movie being able to hold top spot for more then one week so let us serif Godzilla can not only be King Of The Monsters but also the king of the box office.

It has been 5 years since the Muto's and Godzilla battled it out in San Francisco, leaving many dead in their wake. The world wants Godzilla and the other Titans that the crypto-zoological agency Monarch has found to be exterminated as they pose a threat to the world. As Monarch tries to save these ancient creatures, they also try and keep their agency open as the U.S congress wants to shut them down. While that is all going down at an Monarch site in China, Dr.Emma Russell(Farmiga) who lost her son in San Francisco, is studying a Titan about to hatch, the titan known as Mothra. With her daughter Madison(Brown) in tow as her and her husband Mark have been separated since the death of their son, they go to watch the hatching of this latest titan. As Mothra hatches and grows defensive against the Monarch agents, Emma uses a device of her own invention called the Orca which mimics the high pitched sound waves the titans use to communicate with to try and calm her down and with some help of Madison does. But just as they do some mercenaries lead by Jonah Allen(Charles Dance) break into the facility capturing Dr.Russell and Madison and releasing Mothra. Dr. Serizawa(Watanabe) is informed of this and knowing that the device that Emma has could be used to turn the titans against mankind calls on Mark Russell(Chandler) to help find her, his daughter and the Orca before another titan is released. Their trail led by Godzilla who is aware of the imminent release of his ultimate nemesis King Ghidorah a three headed winged dragon from an icy tomb in Antarctica where they and Godzilla both suffer a defeat. But what they also find out is that Dr.Russell and Jonah Allen are working together to release the titans in hopes that they would bring back balance to the planet, to save it from humanity. Their trail leads them to Mexico where another titan named Rodan, living inside a volcano has just been released that attracts not only the attention of Godzilla but of King Ghidorah who go for round two! But their battle is cut short with the US military using a new weapon of their own design on them called an oxygen bomb to stop the titans. Godzilla being badly injured and thought dead but not King Ghidorah who claims the title of King of the Monsters awakening the other titans around the world having them cause great destruction. Monarch soon learns that the thought dead Godzilla is still alive but barely and he is healing himself in an old ancient city deep beneath the earth's oceans. Their only hope is to get him back on his feet quick, which they do with the help of a speed charge from a nuclear bomb. In Boston, Madison has taken the Orca device and uses it to attract King Ghidorah there and Godzilla who battle it out for the title of King Of The Monsters.

Now I know it sounds a little confusing and maybe, yes I told a little too much of the plot but I believe in telling you a nice detailed synopsis, rather then a short uninformed one. But believe me there was so much more that I left out of the synopsis here, so I hope that I got your interest peaked and the gist about what this movie is basically about without making it sound too confusing. First I have to say that this was pretty decent followup to the 2014 Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island. It had a pretty good plot and a decent story which was easy to follow. It did have a few plot holes in it and a fair backstory with some fair performances by the cast. It had some sharp whit thrown ingot the script to lighten the mood and break up the monster battle scenes. If you were looking for a movie with a lot of depth and seriousness, then this was not the movie for you!. It was your typical summer popcorn flick, action blockbuster with lots of special effects, effects and cgi. The action sequences were great as was the cgi with a couple instances though that it looked like the old classic Godzilla movies, but I think they did that to pay homage to those classics. All in all a fair movie for your summer dollars, it wasn't nowhere near what you got from Avengers but it did what it promised and served up lots of classic Godzilla monsters and lots of battles which in a sense what it was meant to do! My only hope is that with their next one that the script is a little stronger. That is why I am going to be giving tis movie a 7.0 on The Justin Scale Of Movies earning a spot on my Pick-It list of movies to see at the theatre. There you have it my thoughts on this latest summer blockbuster, it is time to call it a wrap on my end! Until next time my friends, keep that popcorn freshly popped and save me a good seat because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
