Your Wish Is My Command With the review Of Aladdin

Good day my friends hope you are all doing well!... Bet you thought I was taking another break again didn't you?.. Admit it, you were thinking that! It's okay!... I would totally understand if you though that! After all I am known for taking breaks now and again. Nope there was no break this time, just a different timeline on when I went and saw the movie I was reviewing for you. There is one thing I do have to admit and that is that i have been a very busy boy these days from training and running a half marathon recently, work, getting things done around the house, spending time with family and friends  and writing a story blog along with doing the weekly movie review. As busy as that sounds I did manage to balance all these things even though I sometimes wish I had more time to do it all or had a few clones when I needed them. Maybe I need the genie in the magic lamp to help me out with stuff like that when life gets too hectic!.. The reality of it though is there is no magical genie to grant us wishes to help us out, it is up to us and us alone to find a way to balance. The best way is to take it easy, take a step back, think and just work at it all in your own pace and if need be take a break here and there so you don't burn yourself out! That's my recipe on how to handle the stresses of life, the real magic is in you! But if you really want a magical genie then you could always check out the Disney cartoon Aladdin or the new live action remake from Disney and director Guy Ritchie(Sherlock Holmes) that is in theatres right now and stars Will Smith(Men In Black) as Genie, Mena Massoud(Jack Ryan) as Aladdin, Naomi Scott(Power Rangers)as Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari(Ben-Hur) as Jafar. Let us check this out and see if our wish can be granted for a good remake of this classic cartoon or will it leave us stranded in the desert sands shaking our heads like a night of bad decisions.

In the kingdom of Agraba a kind-hearted street rat named Aladdin( Massoud) spends his days doing what he does best with the help of his light fingered monkey Abu, which is stealing. But not stealing for profit, he steals to survive for food and shelter. He has been doing this since he was a young boy and lost both of his parents. Quite often he give away his food to other hungry people in the streets, he would be what you would call a true diamond in the rough. One day he saves Princess Jazmine(Scott), who decided to disguise herself and walk amongst her people. Having never seen the princess before as she has never left the palace since her mother died, Aladdin believes that she is the handmaiden to the princess after seeing how she is dressed. When a new prince comes to the palace to try and win Jazmine's hand in marriage she quickly hurries off back to the palace before she is missed. Back at the palace Jazmine pretty much brushes off yet another dim-witted suitor who she has no intention of marrying. You see she wants to be the first woman to be Sultan, but tradition dictates that she can't and whenever she tries to convince her father his Grand Vizier Jafar(Kenzari) convinces him with the his smooth ways and magical brainwashing serpent staff not to. He also tries to convince his Sultan to invade friendly neighbours and build an empire. Jafar you see has a plan, his plan is to get the magical lamp from the cave of wonders to get all the power he desires, but first he needs to find the diamond in the rough to retrieve it for him as the magical cave has some specific requirements to enter. Then one day his search ends when Aladdin breaks into the palace to return the princesses bracelet that Abu stole. His guards capture Aladdin and Jafar convinces him to retrieve the lamp for him after he tells Aladdin that it was the princess he met and not a handmaiden. So, Aladdin enters the cave with Abu to enter the cave, retrieves the lamp but when Abu touches the forbidden treasure the cave starts to close on them, trapping them inside with the lamp. Looking for a way out the magic carpet that they find tells him to rub the lamp . Aladdin does and out pops an all powerful magical Genie(Smith) who through song and dance tells him who he is and how the rules work for his services. Aladdin uses his first wish to escape the cave and then promptly uses his second wish to get the Genie to make him a Prince so that he can win the heart of the Princess Jazmine. Making a grand entrance to the city as the new Prince Ali, Aladdin stumbles in his attempts at first to win Jazmines heart, but after a few tries and some advice from the Genie. But the Genie's magic doesn't fool Jazmine as she realizes that Prince Ali is Aladdin and so does Jafar who steals the lamp and begins to use his wishes yo get the power he craves. So, it is up to Aladdin to stop Jafar and save the people of Agraba from Jafar's ambition for power to help everyone's wishes come true.

Now I hope I got this synopsis all down right! I don't want to screw it up too badly or give too much away, but I think I pretty much gave you the right amount of info. Now for the fun part and that is to tell you my thoughts on this movie. Now for the most part this movie was pretty good, not as good as the cartoon but when you have to be compared to a classic Disney cartoon that starred Robin Williams that is a pretty tall order. This live action remake was pretty much the same story with a few minor alterations. It had all the familiar songs we knew from the original which brought back a sense of nostalgia. The acting was pretty good in this live action remake with Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud doing a great job in the lead roles. Will Smith did a fair job using his charismatic sense of humour to the character of the Genie. Not as good as Robin Williams, but that is tall mountain to climb to try and top, because no one could ever compare to him. Back to what I was saying and that is that Will Smith had some moments but was fair to decent. With all the remakes of the classic Disney cartoons being done, this one was good as it was mostly live action with a touch of CGI. And that is where it was weak. The CGI was not that great but it is needed in a story such as this! All in all a great attempt at a live action remake by director Guy Ritchie which was better then his flop of King Arthur last year. That is why I am giving Aladdin a 7.3 on The Justin Scale Of Movies and granting it a spot on my Pick-It List of movies to see in the theatre. There you have it our wish was granted and I didn't leave disappointed, but now it is time to call it a wrap. Until next time remember to save me a good seat and keep that popcorn freshly popped because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
