Widows Pulls Off The Perfect Heist For Movie Goers

Good day my friends! Hope you are all having a wonderful day! Oh yeah I forgot to say welcome to the month of December. Can you believe it? We are just 20 days away from Christmas!!! There is something that is about this time of year that makes you feel like a kid, your heart seems lighter and so does your bank account by time it's over, lol! But seriously, one it's the spirit of the season and the time you get to spend with family and friends that should matter, not the size or how many gifts you get. It's the happy memories that should mean more. And as I was looking at the movie release calendar for this month, I have to admit there are some pretty impressive ones that I am looking forward to seeing. But I don't want to get too far ahead of myself here talking about that right now. Because we need to talk about the current movie I happen to be reviewing this week. That movie being dramatic crime thriller Widows which stars academy award winner Viola Davis(Fences) as Veronica, Michelle Rodriguez(Fast And The Furious) as Linda, Elizabeth Debicki(Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2) as Alice,Liam Neeson(Taken) as Harry Rawlings,Colin Farrell(In Bruges) as Jack Mulligan, Daniel Kaluuya(Black Panther) as Jatemme Manning and Robert Duvall( The Judge) as Tom Mulligan. So lets take a look at this film from director Steve McQueen(12 Years A Slave) and see what its all about!

Set in Chicago, master thief Harry Rawlings(Neeson) and his crew have just stolen $2 million from the Mannings a family that has deep criminal ties and who are people that you don't mess with. But when Harry and his crew are killed by the police their wives are left with the debt to pay back the Mannings or be killed. The head of the Manning family is attempting to change his family name and is running to become the councillor for the recently vacated seat by retired longtime councillor Tom Mulligan(Duvall) whose family has held that seat for years. Tom's son Jack(Farrell) is running to replace him as the councillor. So in order to pay off the debt Harry's widow Veronica(Davis) finds the journal left behind by her late husband detailing every job he has pulled and the ones he had planned to. What she finds is the solution to the money problem in Harry's next planned job, one that will net them $8 million. So she calls together the other wives of her late husbands crew Linda(Rodriguez) and Alice(Debicki) and plan to pull off a heist which is something they have never done to save their lives.

So there is the short version of the plot of the movie my friends. Didn't want to give too much away here but just enough to have your interest peaked! Besides if I gave away too much you might not want to see it if I gave it a good mark. First of all I would like to say that this was a pretty intriguing movie. It had nice tension, a decent script from Gillian Flynn(Gone Girl) and Steve McQueen with intriguing characters each with their own little back story nicely imbedded into the story. The movie did move slowly at first but it picked up shortly after that and finished strong. This movie was more about the relationship of these women tying to do something they have never done and try and work together. It had a few nice plot twists in the movie which made it more intriguing. The acting was pretty good and not cheesy at all with the actors showing off the emotion needed for their characters in the perfect way and coming off as cheesy or boring at all. All in all not that bad of a movie and I am going to be giving it a 7.4 on The Justin Scale Of Movies and putting it on my Pick-It- List of movies to see at the theatre. Well there you have it! That as they say in the movie biz is a wrap! Until next time my friends remember to keep that popcorn freshly popped and save me a good seat because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
