Aquaman A Tidal Wave Of Action And Humour

Good day my friends! Hope you are all doing well and are getting ready to enjoy another Christmas full of fun and memories spent with your loved ones. Loved ones those we would move heaven and Earth, would walk through the fires of hell or pardon the pun swim the deepest oceans just to help them out or protect them from harm. And why would we do such things at the risk of our own lives for anyone not just our friends and family? The answer is simple! It is because we have a caring heart full of love! It's not big muscles, fancy cars/homes, fame, fortune, cool job that make us a hero. That is something that society has deemed to create barriers or segregation if you will to put people in clicks so that they can judge them for their appearance, personality or place in life. What makes you a hero is the inner strength that comes from within your soul and that my friends is known as love! Love can make you do crazy/amazing things that you never thought possible. When we feel real love we feel fear and anxiety with all those butterflies in our stomachs. They make mistakes and others will try and try to hurt your character because of jealousy and selfishness! But a true hero is not rich, doesn't get a lot of fanfare. No they are ordinary people doing some of the simplest things like making someone laugh when they are feeling down or asking someone how their day is. They hold doors open, drop what they are doing to help a friend. They encourage you, believe in you even though they might not really know you. They show you a smile to brighten your day. They can be hurt or misunderstood at times but they never really show it too often. They put others happiness before their own. They don't use people for profit or pleasure, they show respect and understanding and have the quirkiest sense of humours sometimes. But as much as they are these things those who show love, real love always feel extremely hurt. And that is because they do things without hope or agenda. They are the hardest on themselves and always seem to be apologizing quickly and a lot of times when it is not even needed. Why am I talking so much about heroism or what makes a person a real hero. That is because I am reviewing the long awaited superhero action flick Aquaman which stars Jason Mamoa(Game Of Thrones) as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, Amber Heard(3Days To Kill) as Mera,Willem Dafoe(John Wick) as Vulko, Patrick Wilson(The Conjuring) as King Orm, Dolph Lundgren(Creed 2) as King Nereus and Nicole Kidman(Batman Forever) as Atlanna. So lets take a deep dive down into the depths of the oceans to this undersea kingdom and see if it sinks or swims!

After the events of Justice League the hero known as the Aquaman(Mamoa) has been getting a lot of press for his heroics out on the seas. Even creating a new enemy in the process, but even more admirers. Humble yet sarcastic is this hero Arthur Curry and a total bad ass! Arthur was the product of the love between people from two different worlds who couldn't be more different. His father a lighthouse keeper on the coast of Maine and his mother a future Queen of the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. Running from and arranged marriage and washing up on the shore near the lighthouse is how they met and fell in love. The product of that love is their son Arthur a child of two worlds with superhuman strength, the ability to telepathically communicate with sea creatures and the abilities of his Atlantian heritage. But Atlantis never forgets or forgives. They hunt down Atlanna(Kidman) who fights off the attack. The only way to keep her son safe is to go back to Atlantis leaving her family behind. As Arthur grows older he is trained by a loyal servant and advisor of his mother named Vulko(Dafoe) who shows Arthur how to use his abilities and all about his Atlantian heritage, eventually having to tell the boy that his mother was killed by her husband who had her used as a sacrifice as punishment for getting involved with a surface dweller. This leaves no respect in his heart for the kingdom of Atlantis for Arthur who wants nothing to do with his mothers home. But when Princess Mera(Heard) the daughter of King Nerus(Lundgren) shows unto ask for his help to stop his half brother King Orm(Wilson) from getting the support he needs from the other undersea kingdoms so that he can declare war on the surface world. He rejects at first but after a massive tidal wave almost kills his father but leaves others on the surface not so lucky! Arthur decides to go challenge his brother for the throne but in order to do this he must find the legendary trident of the great King Atlan to defeat his half brother and prove to the people of Atlantis that he is the one true king before both worlds are destroyed by war and Orm becomes the Ocean Master.

Well I think that sounds pretty cool and I hope you think the same thing too! To tell you the truth it was a pretty cool movie my friends! This movie had a great story perfectly weaved and told by director James Wan of The Conjuring universe and Furious Seven fame. The movie had great visual effects that made the undersea world come to life on the big screen. The performances were pretty great in this movie too for a superhero movie especially Jason Mamoa who took a superhero that most comic book fans would say is kind of lame and turned him into a total bad ass with heart and humour. But we do get to see the traditional yet punched up a bit costume of the comic book hero which did look pretty awesome as well. This movie had it all humour, heart, great visual effects and a ton of action. Some small plot holes but not enough to make it a bad movie! From beginning to end this movie was fantastic and kept my eyes glued to the screen. It was a tidal wave of action and humour that left the audience wanting more and satisfied as they left the theatre. Tha is why I am giving Aquaman a 7.8 on the Justin Scale of Movies which gives it a spot on my list of movies to at the theatre making it on my Pick-It List! So my friends that is a wrap as they say in Hollywood! Until next time remember to keep that popcorn freshly popped and to save me a good seat because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
