Good day my friends! Hope you are all doing well and feeling well! I know it can be hard to do with cold and flu season in full swing. As for me I am feeling better now! I had caught a cold on Halloween and finally fought it off this past weekend. Now I know it is not part of my blog usually but please do go and get a flu shot to help stop the spread of the virus as there are people out there that have weak immune systems and getting a flu shot helps a lot. That being said I noticed the other day that we are half way through the month of November and there are still a whole bunch of movies to be released. Now I bet you are asking what movie I am reviewing this week for you all? The answer to that is pretty simple if you look at the internet to see what is released or I could just tell you all. This week I am reviewing the movie The Girl In The Spider's Web which is based on the book of the same name and is from the Dragon Tattoo universe. The movie stars Claire Foy( The Crown) as Lisbeth Salander and has become the third actress to play this role previously played by Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara. Let's now see if this movie can trap s in its web.
She is hard to catch! She lives one step ahead of the authorities. She is known as the girl with the dragon tattoo. She is Lisbeth Salander(Foy). And she has been busy righting wrongs and punishing the men who hurt women. But what do we really know about her. Not much other than what her friend and one time lover Mikael Blomkvist wrote about her in his magazine. But we find out early on that she has a sister named Camilla and that her father was sexually abusive to them. We also find out that she escaped her fathers sick cruelty and that she tried to get her sister to come along with her but she stayed behind becoming the object of his sick ways. Years have passed and Lisbeth has tried to put her families dark history behind her. But it is strange how the past can come back to haunt you! When Lisbeth takes a job to help a computer programmer steal back a revolutionary missile defence program that allows the person who possesses it to control any missile system anywhere in the world on just a simple laptop from the NSA her past comes back. After she acquires the program it is stolen from her by a mysterious criminal organization known as The Spiders that plans to sell it off to the highest bidder or maybe keep it for themselves. To make matters worse it seems that the sister that she thought was dead is alive and well and the head of the criminal organization. So with the an NSA agent on her trail, Lisbeth and Mikael try to protect the computer programmers son who hold the key to his fathers program and stop them from activating the program and setting it loose on the world.
Well what did you think my friends? Yeah it does sound pretty decent by the synopsis that just gave you. The story was interesting but seemed to have a few plot holes in it. For the most part though it flowed well and did not seem to lag at all moving along very nicely keeping your interest. I did feel it needed a little more character development though. It didn't seem to have that bit of edginess that David Fincher's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo did. It had that darkness but not quite as dark leaning more towards an action thriller than just being a thriller. This movie was also not quite as graphic as its predecessor which seemed to work for the script. Claire Foy did a fine job in her role as Lisbeth Salander and giving us a good strong female protagonist. Other than that I felt some of the other performances could have been stronger to make this movie better. While it was entertaining and interesting it was just missing that certain something to make it great. That is why I am giving The Girl In The Spider's Web a 6.3 on The Justin Scale Of Movies. which unfortunately puts it on the Flick-It list of movies to wait to see on a cheap movie night or till it comes out on DVD. That as they say is a wrap here my friends on my latest movie review. Until next time remember to save me a good seat and keep that popcorn freshly popped because I will be seeing you again at the movies.
