Peppemint Gives You A Lot Of Bang For Your Buck!

Good day my friends! Hope you had a good weekend! Are you in for a special treat this week! This week I am giving you two movie reviews. The reason for that is that this week there were two brand new releases that came out that I felt I needed to review. Now I know I normally don't give a review on every movie that is released in the theatre but I felt that maybe I could do a little more as we get into the fall months. That doesn't mean that i will be doing this every week. But there will be more than these past two times times lately that I have given you a couple of reviews in a week. Change is good and can often surprise people and leave them thinking" I didn't know that he had it in him to do that! You just don't expect that from him!" I'm sure we all have had moments in our lives when we have done things that others wouldn't expect. That being said it is time to tell you which movie I am reviewing. For review one I am looking the the action/thriller Peppermint which stars Jennifer Garner (Alias) as Riley North. So lets sit back and buckle up for this latest action thriller from Pierre Morel the director that gave us Taken.

Riley North(Garner) is a loving wife to her husband Chris and mother to her daughter Carly. The Norths are not a rich family. Living in L.A Riley works at a bank and Chris works as a mechanic. Chris is given an opportunity to make some quick cash by a friend of his to steal some money from local drug lord Diego Garcia to which he turns down. But it is too late as Garcia has found out about it and intends to make an example out of those even thinking of stealing from him. While out at the winter carnival to celebrate their daughter Carly's birthday Garcia's men gun down the North's leaving only Riley surviving after taking a bullet to the head which misses her brain but puts her in a coma. A few days after waking from her coma Riley identifies the men who killed her family. Garcia attempts to buy her silence to which she refuses. With the odds stacked against her in court by a corrupt judge, prosecutors and crooked defines attorney, Riley has her testimony thrown out and the killers go free. Angered she goes after the killers in the court room but is subdued and remanded to a mental hospital. Before she is transported to the hospital she escapes knocking out the detective who worked her families case and disappears. Five years later those involved in her families murder are being killed execution style. The police baffled at first as to who could be doing this are told by the FBI that it is Riley who after escaping five years ago stole over $50,000 from the bank she worked at and disappeared but was spotted from time to time. But have video footage of her stealing high capacity assault weapons from a local gun store. She has come back to get revenge for her family on the anniversary of their murder. She hides out in skid row and is considered their guardian angel for this eliding on the street. One by one she goes after Garcia's men killing them until she kills Garcia with no intention of making it out alive.

Now how does that sound to you for a good ole revenge style action movie? Believe me this movie was as good as the trailers show it to be! With a decent story and and a pretty good job done by Jennifer Garner in her first action movie in a while it surprised me! There were plenty of one-liners and lots of action. There was also some heart in this movie and you really felt for Riley when she lost her family and just wanted them back. There was some characters that could have been better developed and a few plot holes but the script managed to keep everything together nicely making the story work. It was good to see a action movie with a female lead for once as it does not happen too often. All in all a pretty good movie and well worth the price of admission! It really gave you the bang for your buck!!! That is why I am giving the movie Peppermint a 7.0 on the Justin Scale Of Movies and placing it on the Pick-it List of movies to see in the theatre right now. So that is a wrap for me on this later movie review my friends. Until next time remember to keep that popcorn freshly popped and save me a good seat because I will be seeing you at the movies!
