It's Time For Sicario: Day Of The Soldado

Good day my friends! Well we have done it! We have reached the month of July! This month I have noticed that in the month of July we have some pretty good movies coming out in the theatres over the coming weeks. What we are in now is the most congested month for summer releases. It almost seems that we don't have enough time to see all the new movies coming out! I am still behind by one movie that I wanted to see from last month in fact. What I have noticed that there is quite a few sequels that come out this month too! In the summer time that is one thing you can always seems to set your watch by, that there will be a few sequels out. Making a sequel in the movie business is a game of chance! First id you don't have a good story and script the movie will more than likely be a flop! I say this because you can get the best cast, crew and director out there but if your movie script story is horrible none of that will seem to matter. It begins and ends with the script story. It is hard to outdo the original because you will have trouble recreating the magic that made the original popular! There have been sequels out there that have been successful and sequels that have been box office bombs! The best sequels take time to be made and aren't rushed out just to make a few bucks! In every genres there seems to be a sequel. Now why I am I talking about sequels? The answer is simple my friends! This week we are looking at the latest sequel to hit theatres Sicario: Day Of The Soldado which stars Josh Brolin (Deadpool 2) as Matt Graver and Benicio Del Toro (Guardians Of The Galaxy) as Alejandro. So let us sit back and find out what this movie is all about and see if this sequel flies high or crashes to the ground!

The Mexican drug cartels have found a new way to make money. They make money on helping people cross the U.S. -Mexican border. It has become a big business for them to smuggle people across the border. But now they are not just helping Mexicans cross into the U.S! While patrolling the border U.S immigration agents come into contact with a middle eastern terrorist who blows himself up and injures several officers. Than a few days later a group of terrorist bombers kill a bunch of civilians at a grocery store in Kansas City. Shocked, saddened and angry the U.S government looks for answers as to who did this and how they got into the country? They go to federal agent Matt Graver (Brolin) to find this out! His quest takes from Somalia where he finds out from a Somalian Pirate that a ship carrying some terrorists that was let through belonged to the boss of one of the Mexican drug cartels. To fight this new war on the drug cartels Graver and the U.S government leaders decide to get the cartels to fight themselves weakening them and eventually destroying them. To do this he gets his old friend Alejandro the former lawyer turned Sicario whose family was killed by the cartels and always looks for a way to bring them down. Part of their plan is to kidnap the daughter of Carlos Reyes, Isabel Reyes and make it look like it was retaliation for the murder of the rival cartels lawyer who Alejandro killed. As their plan comes into effect and they are about transport Isabel back to Mexico after making her think she was kidnapped by the rival cartel. But they are ambushed by dirty federal Mexican police across the border with Isabel escaping custody who now fears for her life. To get things back on track Alejandro goes after her to protect her and bring her back across into the U.S. With the plan a disaster the President calls off the operation and Matt Graver is ordered to clean up all loose ends. In essence they want him to kill both Isabel and Alejandro. Back on the other side of the border Alejandro and Isabel attempt to try and escape back into the U.S. while trying not to be found by gangs working for the cartels and the incoming federal agents ordered to kill them.

Now that that is all said and done my friends, what do you think of how the movie sounds? Does it sound good enough for you to want to see? Maybe you're not 100% convinced yet if it is good or bad! Let me answer that question for you. Now as I said earlier that if you wanted to make a good sequel, you needed a great script story. And for this sequel they did have a good one! They also had great characters and the combination of Brolin and Del Toro is fantastic! They have great chemistry and carried it from the first movie into this one. The plot was easy to follow with lots of tension, action and drama to keep the viewing audience engaged. I heard it say from a good friend of mine and a reader of this blog Garret that 2 hours wasn't long enough for this movie as it was great from beginning to end! It grabbed you from the start and didn't let go until the credits rolled. Director Stefano Sollima and writer Taylor Sheridan crafted a great sequel. It was enjoyable as the first one! That's why I am giving this movie a 7.5 on The Justin Scale of Movies and putting it on Pick-It List of movies to see at the theatre right now. That time has come again to say good bye for a bit but I will be back next week with my next movie review or who knows maybe sooner as we call it a wrap her on this review! Until next time remember to support the hardworking people whose names you see in the credits at the end who help make these movies by checking them out in the theatre whether it be a big budget or indie film. As always remember to save me a good seat and to keep that popcorn freshly popped because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
