Joining The Justice League

Good day my friends! No you’re not seeing things, I decided to do my weekly movie review a bit early this week because well i just felt like it! Sometimes it is good to change things up a little bit you know. If we do things the same all the time than we become predictable and can get stuck in a rut. But that doesn’t mean that I will not be keep doing a review on my usual time. Remember that sometimes I give you two movie reviews in week. This makes me think about how we always can expect one thing but get something totally different. In those times we are afraid of change and often fight the change or criticize the change being brought in. I have often found and I am sure that some of you will agree with me that not all changes are good but they do help us grow as much as we don’t like them. We can’t stay in the same place for years expecting for life to magically cater to our needs. We need to take and live life as scary as it is. That’s the way movies can be too! We see a trailer and think it either looks fantastic or this looks horrible. But often we are surprised by the end result where a horrible movie turns out to be great or the great looking movie turns out to be not so great. But for the most part we get what we see when we see from our first reaction to the trailer we have seen. Than there are times when we expect way too much from a movie only to still get a good movie but we judge it too harshly because it wasn’t what we expected or compare it to another in that same genre. Which is why movies like in life you have to have an open mind and not over think things but just look at the simple facts about the movie. Like was the story good, were the characters interesting making you laugh and connect with them in some way and the most important were you entertained? You see in this world with so much trouble and misery in it it is nice tone entertained.  That being said I should get to the start of tho movie review and tell you that the movie we are reviewing this week is the much anticipated superhero flick Justice League, DC and Warner Bros answer to Marvel and Disney’s The Avengers. This movie stars Ben Affleck(Argo) as BruceWayne/Batman, Gal Gadot(Wonder Woman) as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Mamoa( Game Of Thrones) as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller(Perks Of Being A Wallflower) as Barry Allen/The Flash, Henry Cavill(Man Of Steel) as Clark Kent/Superman, Jeremy Irons( Die Hard With A Vengence) as Alfred, J.K Simmons( Whiplash) As Comissioner Gordon, Amy Adams(The Fighter) as Lois Lane , Ray Fisher(Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice) as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Ciaran Hinds(Munich) as Steppenwolf. So let us sit back and find out just what Justice League is all about shall we?

Superman is dead and the world is still in a state of morning and despair. In Gotham City Bruce Wayne aka Batman has a restored faith in humanity by the selfless act that Superman exhibited in sacrificing his own life to stop Doomsday. For months after the Man Of Steels death Batman has been tracking creatures known as parademons that feed on fear and have shown up ever since Supeman died. He finds these strange symbols left behind when one of these creatures die and also in Lex Luthors files. Sensing that something much more dangerous is coming and needs to be stopped he goes out to start recruiting help along with the help of  his new found ally Diana Prince also know as Wonder Woman who after a long absence from helping the world of man has made her return to the hero business. They search out the meta-humans in Lex Luthors files and start out by recruiting Barry Allen also known as The Flash who joins up right away after Arthur Curry the Aquaman refuses to help. But have trouble locating Victor Stone also known as Cyborg. Batman’s fears are proven right when he finds out that the symbols left behind by the parademons are three extremely powerful alien artifacts known as mother boxes that if united could cause great destruction to the earth and turn it into a replicated version of the place they came from known as Apocalypse. They were split up after between the Amazons, the Atlantians and humans after defeating Steppenwolf the second in command to the dark alien overlord called Darkseid. But after 5000 years of silence the mother boxes have awakened with all the fear and despair from Supermans death also bringing back Steppenwolf to Earth to finish what he couldn’t before. He takes the first mother box from the Amazons and than goes to Atlantis and takes the one they guard. This act causes Aquaman/Arthur Curry to go and join Batman and his team. While this is happening Diana/Wonder Woman finds and convinces Cyborg their team. Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Cyborg track down Steppenwolf to an abandoned tunnel under Gotham Harbour where he is questioning missing employees from S.T.A.R labs for the location of the last mother box. After a somewhat successful rescue attempt Steppenwolf escapes  but the team is joined by Aquaman in their fight. With all the members of his team assembled Bruce doubts his leadership abilities and tries to inspire Diana to step up to lead the team. Realizing that the only person to truly bring the team together as their true leader he convinces the others that they use the last mother box located at S.T.A.R labs in the alien ship in Metropolis to bring Superman back to life. Unsure of what will be the end result from using the ships genesis chamber and the mother box to revive Superman they go through with their plan and to much success he is revived but confused as to where and who he is or who any of the league are.  The only person he knowns is Bruce who tries to kill but as a contingency Bruce has Lois come in hopes he would know her which he does and immediately wisps her away to Smallville while he regains his memory. While this is all going on Steppenwolf has taken the last mother box to his secret base an abandoned Russian nuclear power plant and unites the boxes. With the end of the world eminent the team of heroes must work as a perfect unit to try to stop Steppenwolf and separate the mother boxes.

Well that sounds pretty good I think!  After seeing this movie last night I was not surprised a lot about what I was expecting from this movie. Now I have read a lot of mixed reviews on this movie with the majority of them being negative. Which why this movie which still managed to garner the number one spot at the box office this past weekend but didn’t quite get the numbers that was projected for it. Call it favouritism by critics for the competition Marvel which I like as well, Hollywood politics, negative word of mouth from people who didn’t get what they thought they were going to see after the success of Wonder Woman or just competition at the box office are many of the possible reasons for the low numbers. But personally for me I at first was a little skeptical too for this movie after the Batman Supeman movie as I was fooled by those trailers. But with this movie I was given what i wanted from what I saw in the trailers which was in essence a good movie with a nice introduction to the characters and the inciting incident which helps build the story of the movie. Than the build up and eventual climax were all pretty well done. This was not the almost 3hr movie we were expecting at first but when director Zach Snyder left to be with his family after his daughters death Warner Bros handed it over to Joss Whedon who made the first two Avengers movies for Marvel. He edited the movie a bit and gave us a 2hr movie instead. Now while I liked the movie I am kind of curious as to what was in store from what Zach Snyder had in mind for his finished product. The story was fun with some light hearted jokes mostly made by Flash and Alfred. The characters were fun and lighthearted as well kind of like what we saw in the latest Thor movie this past month. I personally liked how they made jokes about how Aquaman could talk to fish poking fun at what was always thought to be the lamest superhero and his powers. But they made him more like a big badass surfer dude and Jason Mamoa had great screen chemistry in this role and look forward to the star alone Aquaman movie. All the characters were well performed even Affleck who I had my doubts about after Christian Bales Batman was so good but still managed to pull off and older grizzled Batman but still not as good as Bale. This movie had great action sequences that were not over done and concentrated more on giving you a fun story with some action thrown in. All in all a pretty good movie for the most part and I am putting it on my Pick-It List of movies to check out at the theatre and give this movie a 7.6 on The Justin Scale Of Movies. There yo have it my friends! That’s a wrap on my review on the movie Justice League. So until next time keep that popcorn freshly popped and save me a good seat because I will see you next time at the movies!
