Good day my friends! Yes the anticipation is over, I did promise you another movie review this week and here it is. Kind of funny this is almost like a sequel to a Hollywood movie by doing a second review in two weeks. But I imagine that there is going to be a lot more reviews to come over the next few months and some weeks wit multiple reviews as we are in the midst of a barrage of multiple big releases both on the the blockbuster scale and in the Oscar race nomination. I am often asked what do I love so much about the movies that makes me want to write about them and to eventually write for them. Well, the answer is very simple my friends! That answer is fairly simple for me to answer here. You see I have always loved a good story and who by the way doesn’t? Movies bring the words on a page to life by the screen writer through the vision of the director and the characters that the actors bring to life. Those stories have such interesting characters and stories that too often connect you with what’s going happening on the big screen. They can get to us emotionally, make us laugh, have us believe in the impossible can be made possible, take us to fantastic places only in our dreams, bring a tear to our eye and take our minds off the troubles in our worlds by giving us a distraction if even for 2 hours! That is why I love the movies. You see a great movie can leave an impression on you, making you want to see it again. But a bad movie also leaves an impression on you too by saying to yourself “what were they thinking when they made this?” You see you will always talk about the good and bad of movies. And you will remember those fun movies and the lines from some of your favourites. I mean not all movies have to be so serious. For me I like a mixture of all genres and usually after seeing a serious thought provoking movie I like to see a fun movie. So this week after seeing a heart wrenching drama on Saturday night I went and saw a fun movie in the form of the action/comedy which happened to be the movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle. This long awaited sequel to Kingsman:The Secret Service which came out back in 2014 and was a huge hit was released this past weekend and also was tops at the box office. The sequel stars Taron Egerton(Eddie The Eagle) as Eggsy, Mark Strong(The Imitation Game) as Merlin, Colin Firth( The Kings Speech) as Harry Hart, Channing Tatum(21 Jump Street) as Tequila, Halle Berry(Monsters Ball) as Ginger, Jeff Bridges(Ironman) as Champ and Julianne Moore as Poppy. So with this impressive cast list you know its going to be good! But lets take a look first at what the movie is about and then I will tell you what I thought about it! So let us strap ourselves in for wild fun ride in the latest instalment to this movie universe.
When Eggsy(Egerton) is attacked outside the Kingsman tailor shop by Charlie a former Kingsman recruit who was thought to have been killed in Richmond Valentines mountain base in the first movie but instead is still alive but has damaged vocal chords and a mechanical arm that was also blown off. He has been recruited by a secret and powerful drug syndicate known as the Golden Circle and is run by a woman named Poppy(Moore) who has made her secret compound a homage to the 1950’s as well as her persona which is part 1950’s charm and part ruthless insanity. The Golden Circle through some high tech hacking acquire the information to all the Kingsmen agents which they use to eliminate them all in one simultaneous missile strike. Eggsy not being at home but at dinner in Sweden with his girlfriend princess Tilde at her families royal palace survives as does Merlin( Strong) who kept his place of residence off the Kingsman servers. The two proceed with the doomsday protocol in the event that something like this happen. That leads them to Kentucky at a large whiskey company known as Statesmen who are the American equivalent to the Kingsmen and were both founded at the same time. Partenering with their American counterparts they find a find a huge surprise in the person of Harry Hart(Firth) thought to be dead but saved by the Statesmen but suffering from amnesia. The Golden Circle has poisoned all the big illegal drugs in the world which eventually would lead to millions dying unless all drugs are made legal and they are allowed to run like any other corporation. It is up to the two secret elite organizations to stop The Golden Circle and save the world before millions of people dying all the while dealing with many obstacles that get thrown in their way.
So you’re now wondering what I thought of this movie, aren’t you? Well the answer is simple and you have probably guessed it. Yes I did like this movie! I found it filled a nice mix of action and humour, along with a little heart. This was a fun movie too and it seems director Matthew Vaughn had a lot of fun with this script when making it as did the actors who were in it. This story was both original and imaginative in making people come back from the dead, secret organizations and their amazing gadgets and a different kind of villain whose over the top sweetness mixed with her insane ruthlessness made her the perfect antagonist. This movie grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the credits roll. And again we see as become common in the movies these days we have a great soundtrack to go along with the action scenes which really makes them pop! This movie I would have to say was as good as the original and was well worth the wait for this sequel. Really I don’t really have anything bad to say about this movie. It was fun, fast and action packed! I would totally see it again! That being said I am giving Kingsmen:The Golden Circle a 7.5 on The Justin Scale Of Movies and putting it on my Pick-It List of movies to see in the theatre. So that’s a wrap here my friends on my latest movie review. But come back next week for another fun filled movie review. Until next time keep that popcorn freshly popped, save me a good seat and I will see you next time at the movies.
