Summer Movie Season Blasts Off With Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2

Who is excited? Well oI hope you are! And if you are as big of a movie buff as I am you look forward to this time of the year with all the thrills, chills, action, excitement and laughs as the summer movie season had officially kicked off on May 5th. From the looks of it this year has quite a few heavy hitters vying for box office supremacy of the summer of 2017 champion. This year kicked off with the movie that surprised people 3 years ago in August of 2014 and claimed the title of biggest hit of that summer. That's right friends we waited three years for it and now they are back! Yes that loveable band of misfits the guardians are back in in the long awaited sequel from writer director James Gunn, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2. Gunn  also wrote and directed the first guardians movie. The gang is back here with Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula and of course Vin Diesel as Baby Groot. Some new faces also come into play here with the addition of Kurt Russell as Ego and Pom Klementieff as Mantis. So let us catch up with some old friends and see what they have gotten themselves in their latest adventure.

After saving the Anulax batteries from a creature known as the Abilisk for the Sovereigns the Guardians are given exchange for their help Gamora's sister Nebula who was captured by the Sovereigns for trying to steal the batteries. As they fly away preparing to take Nebula back to Xandar for imprisonment they are attacked by a large fleet of sovereign ships and find out that Rocket has stolen some of the batteries for himself. On the run and their ship damaged they are aided by another small ship that destroys all the sovereign ships as they crash land on a nearby planet. They soon find out who saved them and Peter is shocked it is his own father Ego who has been searching for him and his servant Mantis. Peter, Drax and Gamora go along with Ego so Peter can find out more about his long lost father while Rocket and Groot repair the ship and watch Nebula so that she doesn't escape. Peter who doesn't quite understand why his father left his mother and never came back and holds a small resentment to Ego but still longs for the father son bond he had missed out on and begins to trust him. Meanwhile after getting hired by the Sovereigns to retrieve the batteries and the Guardians Peters old friend and mentor Yondu is betrayed by some of his crew of Ravagers with the help of Nebula and taken prisoner along with Rocket and Groot. They escape and after Rocket tells Yondu where Peter is they fly off to rescue him as Peters father is not who he seems to be and it could spell trouble for the whole galaxy.

Well that was just a small taste of what the movie is about, I don't want to tell you too much as it could ruin it for you and you might say well you told me all about the movie so I don't have to see it now!  Firstly I have to say this movie was well written, directed and acted. The story was wonderful focusing on the whole theme of family. The actors all still had the same great chemistry that made them so livable in the first movie. There was tons of humour from all characters but the one who seemed to steal the movie with his humour and serious tone was Drax played by Dave Bautista. All in all this movie was great from beginning to end. A feel good summer movie with action, humour and heart with a really great soundtrack of classic rock songs which seems to rare in movies these days. This was the prefect movie to kick off the summer and most sequels have a hard time measuring up to the first movie but this one did perfectly! A real well put together movie! I would even see this one again and I don't often see movie twice in the theatre. I am going to be giving Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 a 8.3 on The Justin Scale Of Movies and definitely put it on my Pick-It list of movies to see at the theatres this summer! That is a wrap for me here this week my friends. Until next time keep that popcorn fresh for me and I will see you next time at the movies.
