Two Reviews For The Price Of One Money Monster And The Nice Guys

Good day my friends well so this week I have decided to try something new with my movie review and that is give you a double header. Yup you've guessed it I am giving you two reviews tonight instead of one per week. It also kind of helps seeing as this is the summer movie season and there is so much out there to watch. So seeing as I can't see all of the movies and review them all I figured I would just see as many as possible and do some short review on the ones I do see. Now without further ado and to keep me from rambling on here to try and make this review seem too long let us get to the first movie here on the double header and that is the drama directed by Jody Foster(The Accused) called Money Monster. This movie has a couple of Hollywood heavyweights in the lead roles as it stars George Clooney(Oceans 11) as Lee Gates and Julia Roberts(Pretty Woman) as Patty Fenn. When financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer Patty Fenn along with everyone working on the show are taken hostage by a angry investor who lost everything on a stock that Gates himself highly recommended and said it was a sure thing. Holding the cast and crew hostage is Kyle Budwell(Jack O'Connell)  with a hand gun and vest worked with a bomb to blow if he takes his hand off the switch. Kyle wants answers not only from Lee but more importantly from the owner of the company whose stock crashed so rapidly and looks really suspicious. With millions watching the situation unfold and the police wanting to take Kyle down. Lee and Patty work against the clock to try and unravel the mystery behind the conspiracy brought to light to not only save their lives but Kyle's as well.

Well I have to say for a movie that is only about 1hour and 38 min it did have some pretty good tension and decent characters in a movie about crime and conspiracy. Clooney and Roberts were spot on and fantastic as always. With Clooney displaying his usual brand of intensity and charm. The script was decent but not great as I was expecting a little more detail to the story which would have added that little something extra to the movie. But in the end it was an okay movie, so I am giving it a 6.8 on The Justin Scale Of Movies which puts it in the Pick-It pile of movies to see in the theatre.

Now we come to the second half of our double header is the crime/action/comedy film The Nice Guys written and directed by Shane Black(Ironman 3) which stars Ryan Gosling(The Notebook) as Holland March and Russell Crowe(Gladiator) as Jackson Healey. In L.A in 1977 licensed P.I Holland March is hired to look into the death of famous porn star known as Misty Mountains. The evidence leads him to a track down a girl named Amelia, this unexpectedly leads him to come into contact literally with not so licensed P.I Jackson Healey who was hired by Amelia to get March off her trail. But when Amelia goes missing Healey teams up with March to try and find her what they find is an even more bizarre case with filled with eccentric goons, porn stars, strippers and possible government conspiracy at the heart of it all.

Now after having seen the trailers for this movie I couldn't wait to see it as it looked really fun, entertaining, interesting and original. After seeing the movie I have to say I was completely right about it. It had a great script filled with humour, action and a little suspense. It did a great job capturing the essence of the 1970's along with poking a bit of fun at it too. Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe made a great duo and seemed to have great chemistry with Gosling pretty much being a scene stealer. All in all a great movie in my books and I would have to give it a 8.1 on The Justin Scale Of Movies and definitely put it on my Pick-It list of movies to see in the theatre. Well that is a wrap here my friends, I hope you enjoyed reading my reviews as much as I enjoyed writing them. Until next time I will see you at the movies.
