Riding Off Into The Sunset With The Lone Ranger

Good day my friends hope you are all having a fun summer so far, there is so much to do it seems this time of year. But it seems the one thing we all still love to do any time of the year especially in the summer is to go to the movies. I know I still do and it seems that there is always more and more to see around this time of year. But whether or not it is good or not well now that is a different story and that is why I am here, to give you my opinion on what's good to see at the theatre so you are not spending your time and hard earned money on something that is not good at all.Well for this weeks movie review we are going back to a time when people rode horses and the the buffalo was not an endangered species. If you haven't guessed it we are going back to the old west and the movie we are looking at is the new film from director Gore Verbinski ( Pirates Of The Caribbean) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer ( The Rock, Con Air) The Lone Ranger. This movie stars Johnny Depp( Pirates Of The Caribbean) as Tonto and Armie Hammer(The Social Network) as John Reid aka The Lone Ranger. Let us hit the trails now that we have our popcorn and find our seats as the show is about to start before the lights go down.

It is San Francisco 1933 and a young boy is at a local carnival checking out an exhibit on the old west when he comes up upon the display on the noble savage in his natural habitat. Well it turns out the person in the display is real and it is Tonto(Depp) and proceeds to tell the young boy the story of the origins of the Lone Ranger. The story then proceeds to go back to a small town in Texas in the late 1800's and the building of the railway. Railway company executive Cole ( Tom Wilkinson) has arranged to bring famed outlaw Butch Cavendish( William Fichtner) to town to hang for his crimes. Also on this train is the new town district attorney John Reid( Hammer) whose brother Dan is a Texas Ranger, also aboard the train is Tonto who is being transported along with Cavendish to the local jail. While this is happening Cavendish's men break him out of custody and John attempts to stop them but fails.Having let Cavendish get away John rides along with his brother Dan and the other Rangers as a deputy Texas Ranger to track down Cavendish and bring him back to be hanged. But they are ambushed along the way and everyone is shot and killed except for John who was just shot but survived.John is discovered by Tonto who managed to escape custody and is mistaken for a spirit walker a man who cannot be killed. Tonto than proceeds to give John a mask he made to hide John's identity and to tell him he has a destiny to be a warrior for justice. The two men set out to find Cavendish but what they find out is that there is more going on and it has a link to Tonto's past.

Well this sounds kind of interesting but sometimes appearances can be deceiving so let us take a closer look at the movie to see what's , what here.Well first of all let me say that the trailer to this movie makes the movie look better than what it really is. The story was long and drawn out, it jumped around a lot , the characters were unconvincing and the dialogue was not to spectacular . With the exception of the odd one liner being thrown out there by Johnny Depp. The approach to make it more of a comedic take fell flat in my opinion, it could have been so much better if it were a little more serious especially with Depp's character who was made out to be more of a fool than a honourable warrior. All in all this movie was very weak I was expecting so much more from this movie it seemed as if director Gore Verbinski was trying to make this movie fun like in the first Pirates movie but it wasn't.

So the movie is almost done and I am just about to reach the bottom of my popcorn bag, I guess that we should finish this off pretty quick. Now after having a little while to think about my final rating on this movie I didn't have to think to hard for my answer. You see because of how weak this movie was I can only say first of all that this movie belongs on the Flick-It pile, not worth the full price of admission. Well I guess you are wondering now what I give this movie and the answer is this I give this movie a 5.8 on the Justin Scale to answer your question here my friends.

I guess the movie is over now the credits are rolling, the lights have come up and people are walking out of the theatre. This can only mean one thing my friends and that is that is time to call it a wrap on this latest review. Until next time my friends Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and as always Good Viewing. :)
