Small time carnival magician Oscar Diggs aka Oz ( Franco) has always been in search of fame and fortune and his ethics have made not so much of a good man.Than one day while escaping retribution for one is scams he is swept way from a dusty Kansas fair ground in a hot air balloon courtesy of a tornado to the magical and beautiful land of Oz. Upon arriving he meets Theodora(Kunis)who tells him that he is the great wizard that was foretold would come to rule Oz as King and save the land from the wicked witch. She immediately falls for Oz's charm and hopes to be his queen but not until he meets her sister Theodora( Weisz) who has been guarding the throne of Oz in the Emerald City since the murder of the last King by the wicked witch so she can prove that he is who he says he is. Oz knowing that he is a fraud but wanting the have the fortune of Oz agree's to destroy the wicked witch for Evanora by breaking her wand as that is what he is told that the prophecy entails. So Oz sets out to destroy the wand of the wicked witch but what he finds is so much more than what he was told. He finds that the witch he was sent to destroy is Glinda( Williams) the good witch not the wicked witch. He finds out that Evanora is the wicked witch and who has tricked her sister into becoming wicked as well. So Oz must figure out what kind of man he really is in order to save the people of the Oz and become the wizard he meant to be and that the people of the land need.
Well the movie is almost over so let us take quick look at what I thought before the lights go up in the theatre.I thought that the special effects were really done and the camera angle from a small screen black and whit screen to a colour one was really well done. I found the movie a little bit to drawn output the story was good. The acting well lets see Rachel Weisz & Mila Kunis did a great job as the two wicked witches and Michelle Williams was sweet &lovely as Glinda the good witch.James Franco I thought could have been a little better there were at times his performance seemed a bit over the top but I guess when you are playing a carnival magician you try to be but it just seemed a bit cheesy. But overall a pretty decent movie, something you might like if you love The Wizard Of Oz.
Ok the lights are about to come up so I guess we should get right down to to my rating don't you think? So with all that of what i thought of this movie I would have to give Oz The Great And Powerful a 7.2 on the Justin scale of movies. It makes it onto my Pick-It pile so if you have the chance to go and see it than see it , it really is a pretty decent movie and it is good for taking your children to as well.
The lights have come up and the popcorn is all finished so I guess that means we should get out of the theatre before they ask us to leave. So it's a wrap on this weeks movie review and as always my friends Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and as always Good Viewing. I will see you all again next week at the movies for another review.
