Having Total Recall

Good day my friends and welcome back sorry it has taken me so long to post a new movie review but I   was starting to fell a little burnt out and have been busy doing various summer activities with friends and family. With that said lets now get back to why you are all really here and that is for a movie review and with this weeks review we are going to the future but not the future we all imagine. Yes with this review we are looking at the remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger action sci-fi movie Total Recall. This updated version stars Colin Farrell ( Horrible Bosses) as  Douglas Quaid / Hauser, Kate Beckinsale ( Underworld) as Lori Quaid , Jessica Biel ( I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry) as Melina and Bryan Cranston ( Rock Of Ages, TV's Breaking Bad) as Chancellor Cohaagen. Are you all ready to take a trip into the future , good then lets get going here we go.

In the distant future the earth has become uninhabitable in a vast majority of the planet because of the fallout from chemical warfare. With only two continents being inhabitable the UBC ( United British Colony) and The Colony these two places have become crowded with space becoming very valuable. The people of The Colony being transported to work in the UBC where they are basically used like slave labor building robotic soldiers for the UBC. Enter factory worker Doug Quaid ( Farrell) who begins to question his existence after having a series of repetitive  dreams . He than proceeds to go to a company called Rekall a company that implants fake memories for its clients so they can live the life they always dreamed of . Suddenly something goes wrong with Doug's implant of being a secret agent and memory cap is opened in Doug's mind and he is being pursued by soldiers and agents of the UBC with one of them being his wife Lori ( Beckinsale) who was assigned to to pretend to be Doug"s wife. Still having very little memory of who he really is Doug begins to figure out clues to his past as a spy sent by Chancellor Cohaagen ( Cranston) to infiltrate the resistance and help the UBC in finding them and their leader Matthias ( Bill Nighy) but switched sides when he fell in love with a member of the resistance named Melina ( Biel) . On the run from Cohaagen's soldiers Quaid is found by Melina as his search to recover his memories continues he discovers his name is really Hauser and that Cohaagen is planning on invading The Colony and take the land by saying it was a the place where the resistance is.  With time running out Doug must fully recover his memories and help Melina stop The Colony from being invaded and being completely wiped out by Cohaagen. Wow this is quite the journey so far so lets keep going shall we.

This movie I would have to say was not that bad of a movie and while it changed a bit from the original   such as it all took place on Earth  and not on Mars and the resistance leaders name is different  it seemed to have had a lot of the same elements of the original .  The acting was better in this one as well  with Kate Beckinsale doing a great job with her character and Colin Farrell doing a pretty decent performance as well. With that being said I would have liked to see more from the main villain Cohaagen which was some  what under used and you really didn't see much of him until near the end of the movie .The plot wasn't bad but lets face it , it was just another remake with a few minor changes here and there to try and make it different but in the end it had a lot of the things the original did. Our trip to the future is almost done and we really have to get back so lets start to wrap up our trip.

Well with all that said the time has come to give my rating on this movie so lets stop beating around the bush and get right to it. Now here it is and I would have to say that when it comes to the remake of the movie Total Recall I would have to to give it a 6.0 on the Justin Scale and while it was not too bad I would still have to say Flick-It in the end it was still yet another remake given to us by Hollywood.

So there you have it our journey is done and the time has come for me to call it a wrap on yet another movie review.  As always my friends Good Morning , Good Afternoon , Good Evening and as always Good Viewing I will see you all again at the movies.
