Good day my friends hope your summer is awesome so far enjoying all the sun , sand , fun oh yeah and lets not forget the summer movies out there as well. Now when there is a summer movie you will usually find one of my movie reviews and this week is no different as this week we take a walk on the in the criminal side of life as we look at the new Oliver Stone ( Wall Street) directed movie Savages. This movie stars Blake Lively ( Gossip Girl , The Town) as O , Aaron Johnson ( Kick-Ass) as Ben and Taylor Kitsch ( X-Men Origins Wolverine ) as Chon it also co-stars such well known talents Benico Del Toro ( Snatch) as Lado , Salma Hayek (Grown Ups) as Elena and John Travolta (Pulp Fiction) as Dennis.Well the deal goes down in about 5hrs so lets get our shit together and meet at the rendezvous point to exchange the goods.
In Laguna Beach California business partners and best friends Ben ( Johnson) a peaceful and charitable botanist and Chon ( Kitsch) a former Navy Seal have a successful marijuana growing operation producing some of the best weed there is from seeds Chon brought back from a tour in Afghanistan . Along for the ride in this lucrative company that the two friends have created is O( Lively) a young woman who they both share a special love with.With business going great and life seeming to be perfect their world is turned upside down when the Mexican Baja Cartel headed by the beautiful and powerful Elena( Hayek)along with her enforcer Lado(Del Toro) make the two partners a deal to partner with them . Ben does not want to partner with them but sell the business entirely which Chon does not want to partner at all but the BC only wants the partnership , Ben and Chon agree to the partnership but with plans to skip out and leave the country with O. Figuring out that Ben and Chon are skipping out of town and running out on the deal Elena has Lado kidnap O in order to get the two friends to honour the deal they made.With O being held hostage by Elena , Ben and Chon along with some help from a dirty DEA agent named Dennis( Travolta) they wage an unwinnable war against the cartel setting off an a series of vicious ploys and maneuvers in order to get back the woman they both love in this bloody battle of wills.
We have only 2hrs till the deal goes down so make sure you are good and ready so lets get our game faces on . If I had to pick one word to to describe this movie it would have to be twisted and that would be for the reason that this movie has quite a bit of brutal violence in it you would swear that it was Tarantino that directed this movie.But in making movie about the world of the drug trade an the players that involved in it you definetly are not going to get sunshine and rainbows in a movie of this magnitude.Savages had a interesting and unique sort of plot and at one point in the movie the main characters sort of compare themselves to the characters in the movie Butch Cassidy And the Sundance Kid which in a strange sort of way they did sort of seem to be. The story did connect nicely throughout the entirety of this film and while it was cover 2hrs long kept you interested. The acting was in this movie was really well done by everyone in this movie and was pretty convincing yes even Taylor Kitsch who I have been totally disappointed in because of his past two films. I especially liked the role of Lado played by Benico Del Toro who did a excellent job you couldn't help but hate and yet like his character at the same time.All in all a really good movie made by director Oliver Stone who has given us such great movies like Platoon and Wall Street.
It is now about 30min until the deal goes down so we better hurry up here and finish because we need all our wits to make sure we make it out alive. Now I can only guess that you know what is coming up next and that is my rating on the movie Savages and that would have to be a 8.0 on the Justin Scale of movies . Now this can only mean one thing and one thing only and that this movie is a Pick-it but let me remind you that tho movie is not a movie for young children as it has a highly adult based content with all the violence and sex in it.
Well the deal is done we made it out alive but on the downside we were caught by the authorities so I guess we learned that crime does not pay. That being said it is time to call it a wrap on another review so as always Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and as always Good Viewing I will see you all again at the movies.
