Good day my friends and welcome to another movie review with this latest review we have developed superpowers after being bit by a genetically engineered super spider. This week we take a look at the re-boot of the Spiderman franchise " The Amazing Spiderman".The movie stars Andrew Garfield ( The Social Network) as Peter Parker/ Spiderman , Emma Stone ( The Help) as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans ( The Replacements) as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard. It also co-stars Denis Leary ( Rescue Me) as Captain Stacy , Martin Sheen ( Apocalypse Now) as Uncle Ben and Sally Field ( Forest Gump ) as Aunt May. Well now that we have been bitten and strange things have started to happen , so lets see what our new powers can do.
As a young boy Peter Parker was dropped off by his parents to stay with his Uncle Ben( Sheen) and Aunt May ( Field) for a short while until they felt it was safe to return. Years have passed and Peters ( Garfield) parents have never returned having died in a plane crash leaving him with him questions.His search for answers leads him to Oscorp and Dr. Curtis Connors ( Ifans) after finding his fathers old briefcase while helping his Uncle Ben clean up the basement.Also in the briefcase Peter finds a file on project he was working on that has to do with enabling the human body to rapidly heal itself through cross species regeneration.Looking for answers Peter sneaks into Oscorp to see Dr. Connors where he runs into Gwen Stacy ( Stone) a classmate and love interest of Peters who happens to be Dr. Connors senior intern. After seeing a file similar to the one in his dads briefcase being carried by a Oscorp employee Peter follows him to a room full of genetically engineered spiders used to create super high tension cable. Peters curiosity gets the better of him as he is bitten by one of these spiders and quickly starts to develop the same abilities of the spider along with great super strength. Never getting to speak to Dr. Connors, Peter pays him a visit at his home and curious about his new powers and ends up helping the doctor solve a in his equation for cross species regeneration and is invited to help Dr. Connors test it out one day after school . While getting into an altercation with a fellow student Flash Thompson that resulted in his uncle having to switch shifts to come to school on the matter, Peter promises to pick his aunt up from work but forgets as he is at Oscorp helping Dr.Connors testing the equation that he gave him. Having upset Uncle Ben because he did not pick up his Aunt May causes an argument between Peter and his uncle leading him to walk out to clear his head . Uncle Ben goes out looking for him but ends up being shot and killed by a thief that Peter had the chance to stop but didn't .Blaming himself for this Peter uses his new powers to go out and apprehend the man who killed his uncle eventually becoming Spiderman who has been labeled a vigilante and becomes hunted by NYC police Captain Stacy ( Leary). Spiderman is in for a test as Dr. Connors tests the regeneration sirum on himself or have his research shut down by Oscorp resulting in him being turned into a giant lizard that eventually wants to turn the entire city into lizards as well. With the police chasing him Spiderman must protect the girl of his dreams and save the entire city from The Lizard . So all of our powers seem to work really well now lets go out and fight crime in the city.
Where do I begin let's see , this movie I must say is way better than the last Spiderman movie as it had a good plot, a nice story and decent character development. While it did seem slow in parts the movie did manage to pull off quality entertainment. If I do have complaints about this movie was in fact to long and had too much backstory . Andrew Garfield and Emma stone did a great job in their roles and were entertaining as was Martin Sheen and Sally Field . Would have liked to see more done with Denis Leary's character & Rhys Ifans role of The Lizard / Dr. Curtis Connors could have been a little bit stronger.There could have been a touch more action this being a super hero movie but all in all the movie did work and was entertaining , I did like the new darker direction this new chapter of the Spiderman franchise is taking and am looking forward to the next movie down the road.
Well we have been fighting crime all day and are closing in on catching the villain so let us get the rating on this movie while we have a minute.The rating for " The Amazing Spiderman" would have to be a 7.7 on the Justin Scale. Minus a few small negative pointsI still found this movie entertaining and enjoyable which makes this movie a Pick-It , so if you are a fan of the Spiderman movies you will enjoy this movie it is a definite must see.
