A Trip To The Cabin In The Woods

Hello there my friends hope you are all doing well this week and if you aren't maybe my weekly movie review will make you feel a little better I know I always feel better when I am writing them. So lets get right down to it you are here for my latest movie review and this weeks review is on some what twisted sort of horror movie written co-written by Joss Whedon ( The Avengers , Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Drew Goddard( Cloverfield ) who also makes his directorial debut  The Cabin In The Woods which stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers) , Kristen Connolly ( The Happening) , Richard Jenkins ( Step Brothers), Bradley Whitford (The West Wing , Scent Of A Woman) and Sigourney Weaver ( Alien, Ghostbusters)

When 5 college students take a vacation to a secluded cabin deep in the woods near a lake they have no idea what is coming their way . That they have been lured there as a sort of trap by a secret world wide agency devoted  to appeasing some ancient gods by offering up multiple human sacrifices. They have been around for years and they control the whole operation from underground so the sacrifices will be ready and pushing them to unknowingly choose which kind of monster that the agency has had imprisoned will eventually kill them as a sacrifice to the ancient gods. With no escape as the agency has them trapped and controls the entire environment all around them they are all eventually doomed to become a sacrifice.

This movie was in a way a typical horror movie as it had the usual elements the four young college students trapped in a remote cabin deep in the woods, drugs , drinking, some sort of scary being or monster killing people and the thing that you usually have in most horror movies nudity. But this movie was also a little different from your typical horror movie as it had more than one monster in it and that the real evil wasn't the monsters or the ancient gods but the people sacrificing others to the gods by using a sort of big brother type technique . It also had it share of laughs as well and used the old horror movie stereotypes by turning them into a reason for the sacrifice. I found the script had an original feel to it and the actors involved made it work and with horror movies they are usually somewhat cheesy and predictable but for this one the cheesiness works , to bad this movie was sitting on a shelf for a while when MGM was dealing with their bankruptcy issues .

Now comes the million dollar question what does it rate on the Justin Scale and the answer to that is 7.0 on the Justin Scale and that is pretty good for a horror movie and I give it this for the reason of it's somewhat originality and mixture of comedy and horror. Now here is part two of your question to be answered do I " Pick-It" or " Flick-It" and the answer to that is "Pick-It" now I know horror movies are not everyones cup of tea , hell  there are only a few that I actually enjoy and they usually have to meet my requirements for me recommend them and that is was the script good , were the characters believable and most importantly was I entertained which this one did. Well there you have it another review in the books and that means it is time to call it a wrap so as always Good Morning , Good Afternoon , Good Evening and as always Good Viewing I will see you all again at the movies.
