The Art Of Racing In The Rain Speeds It's Way Into Our Hearts!

Good day my friends, hope you have been doing well as we enter the final weeks of August! We are not quite at the end yet, but there is about 10 days left in this month and soon we will be approaching September. Man did this month ever go by fast, must have been because I was on holidays, yeah that's it! It is because I was on holidays! It always seems that the days go by faster when you are on holidays it seems! It also seems to go faster when we reach the summer months, but yet it cannot get through the cold winter months that we are stuck in here for six months! Don't get me wrong I like Christmas and all, it is just that i am not much of one for the cold weather, I would rather be in a warmer climate and deal with rain instead of snow and ice and cold! That though is a different discussion for a different time my friends! I believe we were talking about speed and how fast the summer goes by!...You know what though, when Monday comes and my holidays are over and I am back to work I also turn another year older! That's right everyone, my birthday is next week and just as life goes we are destined to get older, but that doesn't mean we have to feel it! We are only as old as we feel is what I always say!...Even our years on this planet seem to go by fast is what I have been noticing too! It seems that the universe likes speed! And in the movie that we are looking at this week  we get to see both the passage of time and speed! That movie being The Art Of Racing In The Rain which is based on the novel by Garth Stein and stars Milo Ventimiglia(This is Us) as Denny Swift, Amanda Seyfried(Dear John) as Eve and Kevin Costner(Bull Durham) as Enzo. Let's get in the race and head for the finish line as we check out this latest release.

As his time on this planet with his family draws to a end Enzo(Costner) shares his life story and the family that he loved and protected. On his way home one day aspiring Formula One race car driver Denny Swift(Ventimiglia) comes across a sign for puppies for sale. Out of the litter of golden retriever puppies he picks or should I say the dog picks him and names him Enzo. As their years go by Enzo and Denny's bond grows stronger, with Enzo spending time at the race track where Denny not only drives but teaches prospective young drivers. Enzo has always loved racing ever since Denny showed it for him on the television and Denny has always felt that he was more human than dog. Soon enough Denny's attention is turned to Eve(Seyfried) a teacher who Enzo would say he was a little jealous of but grew to love as he saw what Denny saw in her. As the years kept going Enzo would see Denny try to achieve his dream of becoming a Formula One Driver with no luck  but never give up on it. He would also see Denny and Eve get married, then have a daughter of their own named Zoe. As Denny is off trying to achieve his dream, it is up to Enzo to watch over his family! To help them, to love them and comfort them when they needed it the most. As the years kept going Enzo's role in the family became ever so important to Denny and his family when Eve became sick with a brain tumour, he was there to comfort Denny and Zoe as Eve recovered in the hospital and Denny gave up his dream to take care of his family. Enzo was there for his family when Eve died. When Eve's parents tried to take custody of Zoe from Denny, Enzo was there for him. Through all the good times and the bad Enzo was there to help his family and be Denny's greatest friend!

So, how does that sound?.. Good right?... Well if you are still not convinced then  I will tell you just what I personally thought about this movie my friends! This was a well written movie that flowed nicely and had a nice mix of humour, heart and even a few tears. The movie was very thought provoking as well as we hear the thoughts of a dog as he tells the story of his life with his owner and best friend and family as he nears the end of his life. The acting in this movie was great and helped punch up the emotional scenes that really tugged at your heartstrings as you shed more then one tear in this movie. Kevin Costner as the voice of Enzo was fantastic, a perfect fit for this movie as this wise old dog tells his story. From beginning to end this was a fantastic movie that I would personally see again! I nice little surprise of a movie to help finish off the summer movie season. A welcome change from the raunchy comedies & action movies that we get around this time of year. That is why I am giving this movie a 7.5 on the Justin Scale Of Movies and putting it on my Pick-It List of movies to see in the theatre right now! If you are looking for something with heart, humour, drama, dogs and if you like car racing as well then you will love this movie. Even if you don't like car racing you will love this movie as it shows that the techniques you use need on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life! There you have it my friends, another review in the books! It is time to call it a wrap on this latest movie review, until next tie remember to keep that popcorn freshly popped and to save me a good seat because I will be seeing you again at the movies!
